"Ugly dog" Sam dies at 14
Sam, the dog whose ugliness earned him TV appearances, limousine rides and even a meeting with millionaire Donald Trump, has died, the Santa Barbara News-Press reported Tuesday.
We recently wrote about Sam, the winner of the "World's Ugliest Dog" contest in our post "Can you admit your dog is ugly?" Sam died Friday, just short of his 15th birthday.
Sam's owner, Susie Lockheed said she had Sam euthanized after a veterinarian told her Sam's heart was failing. She said she's felt a little lost ever since, and is sleeping with Sam's favorite toy -- a stuffed bear he picked up and carried home. "I have snuggled Sam under my blankets on my bed for six years," said Lockheed, who has three other dogs named TatorTot, TinkerBell and PixieNoodle. Maybe they can be entered into the "Strangest Dog Name" contest.
Rest in Peace, Sam. Your hairless photogenic mug will be missed.

this is one ugly dog. that dont make no sense for this dog to look this DARN ugly. my dog is ugly and this one make mines look fine.

No dog is truly ugly. They're all beautiful, just a little different. My heart goes out to Susie in the loss of her little snuggle partner.

When i looked at this dog i think that at first i puked in my mouth then out of laughter i peed myself. I have a question was it burns first or it getting hit by a car?

To ASPCA, that wasn't funny in the least. No dog is ugly. For that matter no animal is ugly. They're all beautiful, just different. To Sam's Mom, my heart and prayers go out to you at this time and I hope you find another to cuddle with soon. I know if I lost my baby girl, I would remember all the love and goodness she gave and want another warm furry snuggle bunny to help fill the empty arms.

Hes was an old hairless breed with cataracts and bad teeth, leave him alone. I'm sure he was beautiful on the inside.

i honestly feel bad for that poor dog.. i love animals.. but to be honest, that dog IS scary looking. but im sure he was a wonderful dog, and yes he may be ugly, but it is mean to call him that. now are all chinese hairless dogs going to look like that when they get older?? if so i hope owners will love them for who they are, no matter what they look like... `R.I.P SAM`

Sam is soooo cute. I love him; poor dog was blind. All Crested are good dogs and I don't understand how people can call them ugly.

Sam is a great dog ,I'm sure of that!I personally am an all animal lover and I can't bear to see dogs in such a pitiful condition.I agree with Miss Larysa Huggins.I feel sorry for Sam .I just don't understand why people call him ugly.

I always loved sam, but when i heard he had died i felt sad and i could not beilve it, so i had searched it and it was true, well know he's in heaven and god bless you an hope you guys get anether dog like sam bye an god bless you guys.

The person who wrote on December 17th is certainly not a dog lover. Sam didn't get to choose how he looked. I'm sure he was a sweet heart....and he captured the hearts of many people.
